Bambu Lab A2L: 330×320mm bed, 19 filaments, €379 — it's out

It's out. On Sunday, June 1st, at 4:00 PM CEST, Bambu Lab unveiled the A2L, and the actual specifications align with expectations — with a few extra details worth reading before ordering.

We already have it available: 69 units between the standard and Combo versions, shipping from our Italian warehouse.

The print volume, finally

330×320×325mm. This is the size many have been waiting for. To understand how large it is: the X2D — Bambu's recently released dual-nozzle machine — has a volume of 256×256×260mm with a closed chamber. The A2L, open frame, offers 105% more volume. It's not a direct comparison because they are machines for different targets, but it gives a good idea.

In practice: helmets, masks, panels, large props, elongated structural components — things that on the A1 were printed in two pieces and glued hoping they would turn out straight. Here, they are made in one piece.

The PMSM extruder: what really changes

Bambu describes the A2L as an "H2S Lite" — it's the most direct way to say that it brings high-end technologies to a €379 machine. The heart is the PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) servo motor with closed-loop control on the extruder, combined with adaptive vibration compensation and integrated dampers.

The closed loop on the extruder means that the machine monitors in real time how much plastic is actually passing through and corrects itself automatically. The practical result is less under-extrusion on long prints, and fewer discards. On a 330mm build plate with a 10-hour print, it's a noticeable difference.

Bambu also claims print quality comparable to a CoreXY — a statement we will verify, but the comparison gives an idea of the project's ambition.

Up to 19 filaments

The A2L supports up to 4 standard AMS units plus 1 AMS Lite simultaneously, for a total of 19 filaments. This is the current maximum in the Bambu range for the number of materials that can be managed in a single session.

The Combo version already comes with AMS Lite included — useful for those who want multi-color right away without a second order. The standard version at €379 is just the printer; the AMS can be added later if needed.

Plotter and cutter

A detail that was not in the teasers: with the optional Blade-Cutting Kit module, the A2L transforms into a plotter and cutter for various materials. It's a niche use case, but for those who work on cosplay, set designs, or mixed materials, it's a real added value on a machine that already has a large build plate.

Who needs it and who doesn't

The A2L makes sense for those who need volume and primarily work with PLA, PETG, TPU, and materials that do not require a closed chamber. Open frame means that PA, ABS, and high-shrinkage materials will be more challenging to manage compared to a P2S or H2D — not impossible, but they require more attention to environmental conditions.

For makers, cosplayers, designers of large objects, laboratories printing props or shaped prototypes — it is the most sensible machine on the market at this price with this volume.

For those who work with technical materials on an ongoing basis, the P-series remains the most suitable choice.
