Not all filaments are suitable for outdoor use: PLA, for example, tends to become brittle and deform with heat and sun exposure. The benchmark of the category is ASA, an engineering polymer similar to ABS but with excellent UV stability, ideal for automotive components, signage, solar panel mounts, garden elements, planters and outdoor brackets. Alongside ASA you will find PETG and ASA/PC blends selected for outdoor use. ASA prints at 240-260 C with the bed at 90-110 C; it produces fumes with a characteristic odour, so good ventilation or an enclosure with filtration is needed. To limit warping, a closed chamber is strongly recommended.
