PCTG (glycol-modified polycarbonate copolymer) is an engineering polymer that sits halfway between PETG and polycarbonate, offering an excellent balance of printing ease, toughness and resistance. Compared with PETG it delivers higher impact resistance, better chemical resistance and superior temperature stability, while keeping printing relatively simple and offering excellent clarity in the transparent variants.
It is the right material when PETG is not enough but you do not want to face the complexity of polycarbonate: technical enclosures, tough transparent components, parts in contact with chemicals, fixtures and objects that must withstand repeated flexing. Extrusion temperatures are around 240-270 C, with the bed at 70-85 C and moderate cooling. Being hygroscopic, it performs best when stored dry and dried before printing if needed. An enclosed chamber is not strictly required.
