3D Modeling and CAD Design for 3D Printing — Monza
Not everyone can handle 3D modeling independently, and not all companies have a CAD technician who also knows the specifics of additive manufacturing. This is normal: these are different skills that are rarely found in the same person.
If you have an idea, an object to replicate, a technical drawing, or a file that doesn't print correctly, we can take care of the modeling before the part goes into production. We have in-house designers and CAD technicians.
Where we can start from
From scratch — describe your idea, even just in words. We'll start with the brief, create a sketch together, then model until we have the print-ready file.
From a 2D image — a photo, a freehand drawing, an image found online. We reconstruct the solid volume and bring it into a printable format.
From a non-solid 3D image — renders, files for VR or animation, three-dimensional images that are not closed solids. We convert them into a printable mesh.
From a dimensioned drawing — a technical drawing with dimensions is an excellent starting point. The more precise the measurements, the faster and more accurate the modeling.
Reverse engineering with a 3D scanner — if you need to replicate an existing physical object, we scan it and obtain the digital model. Useful for out-of-production spare parts, adaptations, cloning of damaged or no longer available original parts.
Types of modeling
Geometric / parametric — for mechanical components, jigs, housings, technical parts with precise dimensions. We use Fusion 360, SolidWorks, FreeCAD.
Organic — for freeform shapes, sculptures, objects with complex and curved surfaces. We use ZBrush, Blender.
Advanced parametric — when shapes depend on variables that must remain modifiable: sizes, multiple configurations of the same part, families of components.
3D file repair
Do you have an existing file that doesn't print well? Often the problem lies in the file itself: unclosed meshes, inverted normals, surface intersections, non-manifold geometries. We fix it before sending it to production, without you having to figure out where the error is.
How it works
Write to us with a description of the project and all the material you have (photos, drawings, existing files). We'll give you an estimate of times and costs before starting, with no obligation.
