PEEK continuously withstands temperatures up to 260°C, exhibits excellent chemical resistance to solvents, oils, and weak acids, and maintains mechanical integrity in environments subjected to prolonged loads. PEI/Ultem, slightly more accessible in terms of processing, offers continuous thermal resistance up to 170–180°C and exceptional fire performance: it surpasses UL94 V-0 classifications at reduced thicknesses, making it mandatory for components in avionics, railway, and Class II/III medical devices.
Printing PEEK and PEI requires a precise setup: nozzle temperature above 370–400°C, heated bed over 130°C, and an enclosed chamber to prevent warping. Compatible models include the Raise3D Pro3 Plus with HT hotend, Bambu Lab X1 Carbon with hardened nozzle, and dedicated laboratory machines.
