3D Printing Robotics, Drones and Electronics

Every hardware startup knows that moment: the part you need doesn't exist, traditional suppliers demand minimum orders of thousands of units, and the next pitch is in three weeks. Strato3D works with hardware startups, professional makerspaces, robotics integrators, and research labs to produce shells, housings, frames, and mechanical components — from initial prototype to small pre-production series, using materials that withstand real-world application.

What we produce for robotics and drones

  • Shells and housings for electronics (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, custom boards)
  • Chassis and frames for drones and mobile robots
  • Custom camera and gimbal mounts for drones
  • Robotic arms, grippers, custom end-effectors
  • Gears and transmissions for small robotics
  • Sensors, LiDAR mounts, sensor fixings
  • Aerodynamic parts for drones (propellers, airfoils, fairings)
  • IP-rated outdoor enclosures for IoT devices
  • Casings, heat sinks, electronic ventilation systems
  • Product development models for hardware startups

Technologies for technical projects

For mechanical strength, we use FDM with PA-CF, PETG-CF, ABS, and polycarbonate: maximum rigidity and temperature resistance. For high-precision details (optics, sensors, microelectronics), we use SLA. For small pre-production series of complex shells, we use SLS in PA12: isotropic, robust, ideal for certification.

Technical standards

We work with STEP, IGES, STL, and native CAD files (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, FreeCAD). We can manage tight tolerances for mechanical couplings, metallic threaded inserts for fixings, and conductive finishes for ESD upon request.

Rapid iteration, NDA, documentation

A new prototype in 48 hours means being able to change three versions in a week — crucial when the product is still evolving. We sign NDAs by default for those with sensitive IP to protect. For projects requiring certification (CE, ROHS, regulated applications), we produce technical process and material documentation. We are familiar with the hardware community in Milan and Brianza: many startups find us as early as the second week after their first prototype.
