3D Printing Third-Party Manufacturing
3D Printing for Third Parties: From Your Idea to the Finished Product
Do you have an STL file, a prototype to create, or a small series to produce but don't want to — or can't — manage a 3D printer independently? Strato3D's third-party printing service is the direct solution: you upload the file, choose the material and finish level, and we ship the finished part to you anywhere in Italy.
We work with both individuals and companies: design studios, engineering firms, research laboratories, schools, and makers. Every order is managed internally, without intermediaries, with quality control on every print.
What our service includes
The Strato3D third-party printing service covers the entire production cycle, from digital file to delivered part:
- Free analysis of the STL/3MF file before production
- Slicing optimized for the chosen material and part geometry
- Printing on calibrated and tested machines (FDM and resin)
- Post-print dimensional control
- Support removal and basic cleaning included
- Protective packaging and tracked shipping within 24-48h
Upon request: advanced post-processing (sanding, primer, painting), heat-set threaded inserts, and assembly of multiple components.
Available Printing Technologies
FDM — Fused Deposition Modeling
FDM technology is ideal for functional prototypes, mechanical parts, components to be tested in real conditions, and medium to large-sized objects. We work with standard nozzles (0.4 mm) and high-flow nozzles for cost reductions on larger volumes. Maximum single print volume: up to 350 x 350 x 350 mm.
MSLA/LCD Resin
For complex geometries, fine details, and smooth surfaces, we use high-resolution resin printers (0.05 mm per layer). Ideal for jewelry, electronic components, anatomical models, and presentation prototypes. Maximum volume: 200 x 120 x 220 mm per single print.
Available Materials
We exclusively use materials from the same brands we sell in our store, so you can be sure that your part will be made with the same filament or resin that you could buy and use yourself.
FDM — Standard Thermoplastics: PLA, PLA+, High-Speed PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA
FDM — Technical Materials: TPU (flexible), PA12 Nylon, PC (Polycarbonate), PETG-CF, PA-CF
FDM — High-Performance Materials: PEEK, PEKK, PEI (ULTEM) — for industrial and aerospace applications
Resin: Standard, ABS-Like, High-Strength, Biocompatible (on request with certification)
Do you need a specific material not listed? Contact us: we manage dedicated purchases for orders with sufficient volume.

When it makes sense to rely on third-party printing
It's not always worth buying your own 3D printer. Third-party printing is convenient when:
- You need a single prototype or a few parts (1 to 50 units)
- The required material — like PEEK or PC — requires specialized machines not accessible to occasional printers
- The setup time and learning curve are not justified for your use
- You want a professional result without investing in equipment, maintenance, and consumables
- You need a recurring service but don't want to handle production in-house
For those who print regularly or in large volumes, our printer catalog is always available, with models such as Bambu Lab X1 Carbon, Prusa MK4, and Creality K2 Plus which make self-production economically advantageous with just a few hundred prints per year.
How the process works
- Upload your file: send your STL or 3MF to info@strato3d.it with specifications (preferred material, color, quantity, required tolerances).
- Quote in 24 hours: we evaluate the model and send you a detailed quote with cost, estimated production times, and, if necessary, technical suggestions to optimize the geometry.
- Confirmation and payment: you accept the quote and proceed with payment (PayPal, bank transfer, or card). Production starts immediately after confirmation.
- Production and quality control: we print your part and subject it to dimensional and visual control. In case of non-conformity, we reprint without additional costs.
- Shipping: we carefully package and ship with a tracked courier. Delivery in 24-48h for all of Italy, 3-5 days for Europe.
Estimated Times and Prices
The cost depends on volume, material, geometric complexity, and finish level.
| Part type | Material | Estimated times | Indicative price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small prototype (< 100 cm³) | PLA / PETG | 24-48 h | from €8 |
| Medium functional component | ABS / ASA / PA | 2-3 days | from €20 |
| Complex technical part | PA-CF / PC / TPU | 3-5 days | upon quotation |
| High-performance material | PEEK / PEKK / PEI | 4-7 days | upon quotation |
| Fine detail resin print | ABS-Like Resin | 24-48 h | from €15 |
| Repetitive series (10-50 pcs) | Any | 5-10 days | volume discount |
Prices are per printed part, excluding VAT, without shipping cost. Always request a personalized quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
What file formats do you accept?
We accept STL, 3MF, OBJ, and STEP. The 3MF format is preferred as it preserves colors, materials, and scale settings. For STEP files, we handle the conversion ourselves.
Can I request a sample before a series order?
Yes, we even recommend it. For series orders over 10 pieces, we always produce an approval sample before proceeding with full production. The cost of the sample is included in the total quote.
Do you sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)?
Absolutely. For prototypes and confidential projects, we are available to sign an NDA before receiving the files. Customer 3D models are never shared or reused.
Do you offer invoices with VAT for companies?
Yes, we issue regular electronic invoices for all business orders. For public entities, we are registered on MePA.
How do you handle parts that fail quality control?
If a part fails our internal control, we reprint it at no additional cost and without the need for a customer request.
